Once again, I had to rush this build due to homework and finals, but i think it still worked out pretty good.

Battleship is a board game with the goal of attacking the opponent's ship while not being able to see where they are. Each attack is a calculated attack that slowly eliminates spaces on the board where the opponents ships are. It's a fun game i used to play with my siblings growing up.

With not alot of time on my hands due to finals around the corner, I wanted something that would be relatively easy and quick to build. Luckily enough LEGO has a piece that is called a wishbone, because of its resemblance to half of a wishbone. That made this build very easy and quick.

The tradition of breaking a wishbone involves two people each grabbing a side and pulling it apart while making a wish. When the bone breaks, the person holding the larger piece is believed to have their wish granted.

I tried to think of something clever for this theme, but with schooling, I didn't have much free time, so I decided to be very straightforward with the theme.

There are many different types of garbage trucks around the world, so it was hard trying to build one that was easily recognizable, so I went with the design that is in my hometown and the one that I saw every week. It's just over 4 studs wide and kinda reminds me of a hotwheels car with it proportions, which I love. The build uses 87 pieces.

I like the large, smooth shapes making up the shell on the back and head and how they contrast with the more intricate appendages. Nice use of textures overall to distinguish different elements of the scene!

Thank you very very much!!! It was a bit tricky getting everything to look good together, and with the beetle being all black I was struggling to make everything appear not as one big black clump, so I'm glad it all worked out!!

Dung beetles are rather backwards animals. Firstly, the don't eat normal food, but rather eat the food waste of other animals. Secondly, when they come upon a piece of dung they particularly like, they roll the dung into a ball and walk backwards with it, moving the food to a safe place for storage and feasting :yummy:. They also can use these dung balls as a place to lay larva.

    My build uses 99 pieces.

The theme for week 2 was "Ups! / Oops!," not "Twilight" again. Nevertheless, mixing up the theme word is arguably on theme, and this is a nice little architectural build!

OOPS! I didn't realize that lol, my bad (I did in fact realize it). Accidentally mixing up the theme word was the whole idea. I also couldn't figure out something to build for "oops" so this made it a bit easier.

The Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror

(Hopefully next week isn't "Twilight" again)

Wait, wasn't this last week's theme? I'm not sure why it was decided to have the same theme back to back, but it definitely made it interesting to revisit the idea to see what else I could come up with. However, I certainly do not want all 8 weeks to be the "Twilight" theme, that would make things very difficult and boring.

Anyways, I built the Tower of Terror ride located in Disney. The ride is based off of the series "The Twilight Zone" and has become an infamous ride within the Walt Disney World parks. The build itself is not the best as I had to cut down on pieces to hit the 101 piece count, but I think it captures the towers look pretty well all things considered.

The Twilight Zone is a layer of the ocean, beginning at two hundred meters below the surface, and ending at 1km down. It has many extraordinary creatures, adapted to life in this challenging environment. For example, they may be bioluminescent or have huge mouths to make the most of rare encounters with prey in the dark. My build focuses on the Angler fish, a notorious predator in the twilight zone that uses a glowing lure to attract fish close enough to eat. This build uses exactly 101 pieces.

The idea of making a build around the camera's ability to focus was my first idea, but keeping the build within the 101 piece limit made it hard. In order to accomplish that I had to make a smaller camera, which in turn forced me to make the camera image a forced perspective in order to allow for a bit more detail to be had. This also allowed my to set the displayed image, "out of focus," by changing the depth of field in my rendering program.

These past 8 weeks of competition have been great and I already cannot wait till next year! Thank you to all of the organizers and the other competitors for making this possible!
