One of my first ideas for this topic was a person or vehicle traversing a vast landscape as viewed from a bird's eye or satellite perspective. An inspiration for this was also the bookbinding YouTuber Four Keys Book Arts, who recently made wonderful rebindings of Andy Weir's books and chose this motif for the cover of "The Martian", too. However, when reviewing my parts collection I quickly realized that Mars isn't going to work and I'd have to settle for a more classic lunar landscape. I also considered building the rover in Classic Space colours, but then decided to stick with a realistically sober NASA colour palette, even if that makes the whole picture a bit monochromatic.
I actually posted this entry a few hours ago already, complete with disassembled parts image, but then realized right after publishing that I forgot to include tracks between the front and rear wheels. A really dumb mistake that isn't immediately obvious, but once you notice it, it follows you into the depths of hell.
But this way I at least got a generally better photo due to some other small changes to the composition, so whatever.
