Jigokudani, meaning Hell Valley, is a confluence of volcanic hot springs and frigid winters in the mountains of Hokkaido, Japan. Since the 1960s, Japanese macaques have lived in the area of Jigokudani Monkey Park, bathing in man-made hot springs (onsen).
I wanted to incorporate multiple extremes of temperature in a single build, and images of these monkeys came to mind. This build uses 91 parts.
I felt some of my recent photos felt somewhat shallow, so I tried to bring more depth into this one by extending the edge of the spring out of the camera's focus.
