Da ja abseits der engeren ursprünglichen Bedeutung als Heiligenbild im allgemeinen Sprachgebrauch so ziemlich alles ikonisch und ein "Kultsymbol" sein kann, war das wieder ein sehr breites Thema. Ich habe ein Symbol (und gleichzeitig das Abbild einer Dame) gewählt, das auch weltweite Bekanntheit (um nicht zu sagen, Verehrung) genießt und dabei unmittelbar für verschiedenste Dinge steht, sei dies der "Amerikanische Traum", die Bedeutung von Einwanderung bei der Gestaltung einer Nation als kulturellem Schmelztiegel, eine der bedeutendsten Städte der Welt, oder eines der besten LEGO Architecture Sets. Und UNESCO Welterbe ist sie aufgrund all dessen auch noch. Die Rede ist natürlich von niemand anderem als Lady Liberty höchstselbst!
In contrast to the original religious meaning, nowadays basically anything can be an iconic "cult symbol", which makes this topic quite broad again. I chose a symbol (and at the same time the image of a lady) that is also recognized (if not revered) worldwide and immediately stands for a variety of things, be that the "American Dream", the significance of immigration for shaping a nation as a cultural melting pot, one of the most important cities in the world, or one of the best LEGO Architecture sets. And because of all that she's even UNESCO World Heritage. I'm of course talking about noone else but Lady Liberty herself!
Ich bin großer Fan von Jens Ohrndorf und seinen gestreckten Figuren, die die Hauptinspiration für den Bau der Statue gewesen sind. Finde ich auch passender als die reine Minifig, zu der man auf dem Maßstab intuitiv meist greift. Vom Sockel hätte ich mir ehrlich gesagt etwas mehr versprochen, aber man unterschätzt wirklich, wie viele Teile da so draufgehen. Ich wollte aber auch nicht einfach die Hälfte der Teile auf der Rückseite einsparen, da es mir diesmal nicht um das Foto sondern das Modell als solches geht. So ist er nicht unbedingt das Nonplusultra der Detailverliebtheit (was schade ist, da der Sockel eigentlich auch der heimliche Star des LEGO-Sets ist), aber dafür von der Form her noch der beste Kompromiss, den ich finden konnte. Am Ende waren auch noch ein paar Teile drin, um das Modell mit einem klassischen Architecture-Rahmen zu einem vernünftigen Abschluss zu bringen. Der Maßstab des ganzen dürfe etwa 1:500 sein und damit ein Drittel des LEGO-Sets.
I'm a big fan of Jens Ohrndorf and his stretched minifigures, which were the primary inspiration for the statue. That's also more fitting than the plain minifig that is mostly used on this scale. I admittedly was expecting a bit more from the pedestal, but it's really easy to underestimate how many pieces something like this eats. I didn't want to leave away parts on the back, though, because this time I'm not caring so much about the photo but the model itself. So the pedestal is maybe not capturing all the details as best as possible (which is unfortunate, because it's also the secret highlight of the LEGO set), but shape-wise it's the best compromise I could come up with. In the end there were also a few parts left for a proper Architecture frame as a somewhat clean finish. The scale of the whole thing should be around 1:500 and thus about a third of the LEGO set.

Für Rebrickable habe ich auch noch eine Variante ohne Teilelimit mit etwas verbessertem Sockel gebaut (hier nur als Link, da außer Konkurrenz), die ich auch gleich noch beim aktuellen Set-Verkleinerungs-Wettbewerb von Tips&Bricks eingereicht habe. War zwar so nicht geplant, aber danko hat mich an den Wettbewerb erinnert und im Grunde ist es ja eine Verkleinerung des Architecture-Sets.
For Rebrickable I also built a version without part limit and with an improved pedestal (here just as a link, to not distract from the entry), which I also submitted to the set minification contest that Tips&Bricks is currently running. I didn't actually plan for this, but danko reminded me of the contest and the model is basically a minification of the Architecture set.
