Round 5: Deepgate, the hanging city of chains over the abyss.
Ich habe vor langer Zeit eine Romantrilogie angefangen zu lesen, aber ich fand sie nicht so gut, weshalb es leider nur beim ersten Buch blieb. Woran ich mich aber gut erinnere und was ich daran total genial fand war das Setting, welches ganz hervorragend ins Thema dieser Runde passt. Es handelt sich um die Kettenwelt-Chroniken von Alan Campbell:
"Seit Hunderten von Jahren hängt die Stadt Deepgate an unzähligen schweren Eisenketten über einem finsteren Abgrund. Dort tobt ein erbitterter Kampf um die Seelen der Verstorbenen. Dill ist der letzte aus dem einst mächtigen Geschlecht der Erzengel und dazu auserwählt, tote Seelen an den schrecklichen Gott dieses Höllenschlundes zu übergeben. Als er das Ritual zum ersten Mal vollzieht, schwört der Vater einer entseelten Tochter blutige Rache und löst damit einen infernalen Kampf aus."
Some time ago I started reading a book series but I didn't continue after the first book because it wasn't that good. But what I will always remember fondly is the series' world building which fits this weeks' theme splendidly.
I am talking about the Deepgate Codex series by Alan Campbell:
For hundreds of years the City of Deepgate is situated hanging above a great abyss, held in place by countless heavy iron chains. It's the place where archangels and demons fight a gruesome battle over the souls of deceased people. Dill is the last of a once powerful race of archangels and is chosen to give the souls over to a menacing diety dwelling at the bottom of the abyss. But when he implements the ritual for the first time the father of a deceased girl pledges himself upon avenging her soul, resulting in a devastating battle.
Auch ein perfekter Zeitpunkt, mal aus dem Minfig-Scale auszubrechen und was in micro-scale zu bauen. Hoffe euch gefällt's!
